Founded by Dawn Johnston, Simply Positive is more than just a gift shop; it’s a hub for creativity, collaboration, and community growth.
“I call the shop, ‘My Happy Place.’ There is just a soothing energy as soon as I walk through the door. For as long as I can remember I’ve dreamt of having my own store. Big box stores don't highlight the individuality of creators and I wanted to showcase local artisans and their products. I carry a wide variety of perishable items such as cheeses and cheese curds, local honey and syrup, coffees and teas and everyone's favorite Once Again Nut Butters, plus local produce when in season. I Love natural and healthy options and I try to educate my customers on the importance of natural care, both for wellness and personal enrichment purposes. I’m a creator and take pride in finding something old and giving it new life and personality. I make chalk paint and re-purpose furniture using that medium and a variety of others. Simply Positive was born out of Dawn’s vision to create a space that not only showcases her beautiful woodwork but also brings together local artisans and small businesses. Opening our doors during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we embraced the opportunity to build something positive in our community. What started as a store featuring Dawn’s Groov-E Sun Laser Designs quickly evolved into a vibrant marketplace where local artists, like Gina Horan of Gina Horan Reflections Photography, could display and sell their creations.
We believe in the power of community. Dawn has been instrumental in fostering connections between local businesses and residents, supporting everyone from new entrepreneurs to established small business owners. Whether it's hosting workshops, organizing community events, or providing a space for local groups to meet, our lower level is always buzzing with activity aimed at bringing people together.
